Equipment

  • Vegetable Peeler (optional)
  • Half sheet pan
  • Silicone Baking Mat or Parchment Paper
  • Small offset spatula
  • Fork

Materials

  • 4 oz chocolate white, milk or dark

Instructions

  • If you have a large bar of chocolate you can use a vegetable peeler to make chocolate shavings.
  • If you don't have bar chocolate, you can make shavings using melted chocolate. Start by lining a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper.
  • Melt the chocolate and pour it onto the prepared pan.
  • Spread the melted chocolate onto the baking sheet into very thin layer, less than 1/8" thick.
  • Allow the chocolate to set completely. You can put the pan into the refrigerater to speed up the process.
  • Use a small spatula to lift the chocolate off the pan in large flakes.
  • Set the flakes into a bowl and use a fork to break them into smaller pieces.
  • The chocolate shavings can be stored in a covered container at room temperature indefinitely.
