Eileen Gray
Healthy treats for your best friend made with peanut butter, applesauce, oats and whole grain flour.
Prep Time10 minutes
Bake Time15 minutes
Total Time25 minutes
Servings:24 biscuits

Ingredients

  • 5 oz unsweetened apple sauce (½ cup)
  • 3 oz peanut butter (⅓ cup)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon table salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 oz old fashioned rolled oats (1 cup)
  • 7 ½ oz whole wheat flour (1 ½ cups, see note)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 °F. Line a half sheet pan with parchment paper.
  • In a mixer bowl combine 5 oz unsweetened apple sauce and 3 oz peanut butter. Add 1 large egg and mix to combine. Add ½ teaspoon table salt, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 3 oz old fashioned rolled oats and 7 ½ oz whole wheat flour.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead to form a smooth dough. Roll the dough to ¼" thick. Using cookie cutters, cut out desired shapes and place onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake until crisp and lightly golden brown - about 15-20 minutes.
  • Let cool completely if your dog will let you wait that long.

Notes

If measuring the flour by volume use the “dip & sweep” method. That is, dip the measuring cup into the flour bin, overfill it, then sweep away the excess.
The exact number of biscuits will depend on the size and shape of the cutter you use.
